End of the Year Project

For my project, I knew that I wanted to do something related to aliens, which I have been very fascinated with as of late. For the most part I just combined things that I thought looked cool- a girl in a cute dress with a tv head, flowers, a UFO, etc. My project is supposed to be an informational poster on the basics of how to successfully abduct cute girls. To show the flow of info, I incorporated the facts as though they were part of the beams of light coming down to abduct the girl. I also included everything that was in my rubric; the flowers, the girl, the tv head, the info, the ufo, and this blog entry. I would say that although my project is rather simple looking, I am very pleased with how it came out and I think that it's very cute and fun. I also changed the hue/saturation of the dress to change it from red to a light pink so that it would match the flowers, ufo and rays of light.

Lesson 2 Adobe Flash Questions

1) Name two primary differences between Mergeable Shapes and Drawing Objects.
- Mergeable Shapes literally merge together and become one shape and when taken apart, it's like taking one shape apart and pieces are missing. This does not occur with Drawing Objects. Also, Mergeable Shapes require layers if you don't want the shapes to be torn apart, while Drawing Objects do not.

2) What tool would you use to manipulate individual points that make up a shape or path?
- The selection tool.

3) What three advantages does isolating artwork on a layer offer?
- You can make it look as though two images are merged, but you can still separate them without ruining the original shape if you wish to do so.

Lesson 1 Adobe Flash Questions

1) From what location can you open a document that was previously open?
- The task bar or from the main screen

2) What panel allows you to view information about a selected object, or set options for an active tool?
- The properties panel

3) What method does Flash use to automatically create animation from a starting and end point?
- They use many selected frames and combine all of them

This is the completed version of my villain; Vaporous Vivian. I am in a field of flowers because flowers are groovy, and so am I. Here I am slowly starting to disappear, and the coolness and the radicalness is literally radiating off of me. I am awesome. (The reason I am evil is because I steal everyone else's "cool" for myself and make everyone lame except me because I rock).

The Three Types of Superhero Origin Stories

     1) Trauma; when someone undergoes a lot of stress and develops abilities and uses them to help people. An example would be Batman.

     2) Destiny; when someone is the "chosen one", and they realize they have abilities that they never knew about before. An example would be Harry Potter or Percy Jackson.

     3) Chance; something accidentally happens to a person and causes them to gain powers. Some example of this would be Spiderman and The Hulk.

For my font for the villain "Vaporous Vivian", I used a cloudy sort of type. I first used the Helvetica font and then deleted all around the letters so that it was only the lines, and then created a cloudy looking paintbrush. First I went over the letters with the brush using white, then I went over again once more with a black brush around 65% opacity, and then once more with the white brush. This created the sort of separated cloudy look. After I finish with my villain, I will add it in against the black background. I will be fading into it.

Backstory for Vaporous Vivian

The year was 1999, and the raddest human being ever to be born came to be. Her name was Vivian Rose. Even as an infant, she was so cool that the doctors who delivered her could not look her in the eyes, for the awesomeness was too overwhelming. Vivian lived with her dad and her sister out in Portland, Oregon, where there were many other cool people for her to get along with. She had always been the most fabulous person that any of her friends, acquaintances, family or anyone on the planet had ever met. She loved her life, and enjoyed every day.
There came a day, however, when Vivian came to the realization that she had some competition! There was a new girl in town, a girl by the name of Lady Gaga. She was edgy, she could sing, she could dance, and all of her outfits were totally scandalous. What was she to do with this threat of hers? Well, there was only option. Vivian was determined to genetically altar herself to become the most beautiful, intelligent, funny, awesome, daring, cool person that had walked the Earth since the Big Bang.
Although this may sounds complicated and impossible to the average homosapien, it was nothing of the sort for Vivian. Because her dad was one of the most well-respected scientists in all of the world, she was not alone. Her father granted her permission to use all of his labs, he hired full time assistants, and he himself started working on a syrum that would basically turn his daughter into a half-god. This is where things went wrong. While Vivian and her dad were out getting cheeseburgers, her cute lil' cat got into the laboratory and knocked a dangerous chemical into the almost finished syrum. Just a few drops, but that's all it took.
Exactly one week later, she was prepared to drink the vial of liquid that would transform her into what she always wanted to be. And it worked, seemingly, at first. It had all of the effects that they had planned on, except for one. The ability to... become invisible! At first, Vivian was scared and upset. Then, however, she realized that she could use her powers to her advantage, to go around invisibly and do things to make other people appear less cool! Even now, Vivian is out creeping about, making everyone seem hella lame, even if they aren't.

I watched a tutorial on how to touch up models and make them look better. Here, I slimmed her jaw down, filled in her eyebrows, removed the blemish on her left cheek, made her eyes and lips a bit bigger, tucked her neck in a bit and gave her hair more volume. I also made her nose just a tiny bit smaller. The one on the left is after and the one on the right is before I did anything to it.

For my google doodle project, with the theme "If I could create one thing to make the world a better place", I chose to focus on homophobia/marriage equality. My invention would be either a pill or injection that everyone gets around 12 or 13, and it shows them what it's like to be gay (constantly being picked on, etc.), and makes them understand that it's not a choice nor a sin. They are then free to have their own opinion on gay people, although the majority of people would be reasonable and understand that it's wrong to dislike someone based on their sexual orientation. I wasn't sure how to display the pill or injection and actually have people understand what I meant, so instead I just showed what the outcome of this invention would be; happiness and equality.

One Thing to Make the World a Better Place

If I could invent one thing to make the world a better place, it would be two different pills, and one would be given to guys that show them what it's like to go through all of the female experiences that they don't understand. The other pill would be the same but girls would take it and it would show them what it is like to be a guy. The reason for this pill is to try to get both genders to respect the other more, and to try to wipe out sexism completely. I think it should be required for everyone to take, preferably when they are rather young. It would sort of be like in The Matrix, how when Neo takes the pill he suddenly understands everything. It would all take place in less than a minute.

Original Ad

My Ad

In order to replicate my ad, I used the text tool, the quick selection tool, the magic wand tool, the blending options, the free transform tool, the eraser and together I was able to do the following. The hardest part about this project was finding a seat belt that looked similar to the one in the original ad. I picked it because I thought that the message was interesting and I had never seen something like that done before.

For my strange fruit project I took a strawberry and made it into the shape of a polygon and then made it look like the top had been bitten off. I think it would be more convenient if strawberries were shaped like this because they wouldn't roll around and also they would look way cuter and stylish like wow I think we all need this in our lives.

My characters name is Susan, and she is a rocking scene kid. Her favorite bands are Blood on the Dance Floor, Brokencyde, Black Veil Brides and Falling In Reverse. She is hardcore so don't mess with her or she will bite you with her vampire fangs. Her best friend is named Vivian and she is super cool and soft grunge. In her spare time, Susan likes to listen to BOTDF and write in her diary and praise Dahvie Vanity and Jeffree Star.
The hardest part about the pen tool for me was putting 3D shapes together, like for the bed.
